Today Eddie hung out with the guys from WDAE while promoting the new Sonny’s BBQ / BBQ To The Rescue First Responder Program! Eddie doesn’t miss a chance to let the First Responders in the Tampa Bay communities know how much he and his team appreciate them.

You can catch the BBQ To The Rescue Truck visiting hospitals, fire stations, police stations, etc. He loves feeding them his delicious Sonny’s BBQ – and telling them how awesome they are!

WDAE Sonny’s BBQ To The Rescue Contest

Sonny’s BBQ and 620 WDAE are proud team up to honor & recognize some of the BEST First Responder’s (Police, Fire & EMT) in Tampa Bay!

There are a lot of great men & women in the Bay area who risk their lives daily to keep all of us safe, but it’s also the things we don’t see or hear every day that could have positively changed someones life or have had a positive impact on their community. We want to know who they are!

You can take part by nominating a First Responder in our area who you believe deserves to be recognized. One lucky nominee will receive a BBQ Catered Party for up to 100 people from Sonny’s & 620 EDAE for their entire unit at their headquarters or neighborhood!

But that’s not all! If your nominee is selected, you will receive a $50 Sonny’s Gift Card for taking the time to nominate that special person in our community.

Sonny’s believes in honoring the BEST and appreciates the dedication of the First Responders and all they do to keep us safe. So let us know why we should recognize YOUR nominee!

Tarpon Springs High BBQ Sauce Competition

Sonny’s BBQ and BBQ to the Rescue – Held the First Annual Tarpon Springs High School (Jacobson Culinary Arts) BBQ Sauce Competition on September 25th, 2015.

In memory of Ryan Wells and in honor of the students, staff, chefs and teachers at the Jacobson Culinary Arts Academy.

Speical thanks to Chef Cathleen Ryan and Mike and Ashley Wells for helping to make this event such a success. We had 18 Teams of 3 compete.

One Senior on each team with two underclassmen (UC). First Place Prize was $1000 for the Senior and $375 each for the UC. Second Place was $750 for the Senior and $250 each for the UC. Third Place was $500 for the Senior and $200 each for the UC. Fourth Place was $300 for the Senior and $75 each for the UC.

The First Place and Second Place team were invited to work at the Palm Harbor Sonny’s to refine their recipes so we can enter one of them in a Flordia Bar B Q Assocation competition.

In addition the first and second place teams will recieve another $750 each while working at Sonny’s.

The level of team work, honesty, collaboration and respect shown by each team for each team member and there chefs and teachers make us proud to be assocaited with such a fine program.

Mass Casualty Drill

BBQ To The Rescue supports the Mass Casualty Drill

We had the honor to feed all these amazing people during the month of March. This was a coordinated mass casuality drill for the Fire, Police, American Red Cross in the event of a natural disaster. The VA Hosts this event each year.

BBQ To The Rescue Supports Local Cancer Fundraiser!

Sherri Strazz and her husband Robert love life and she is fighting this battle in the same fashion!

BBQ To The Rescue was created for this very purpose…to help those in our community in need. We recently heard of a local woman fighting for her life. Sherri Strazz is a commercial realtor here in our community. What started out as pulled muscle in her leg area turned out to be a cancerous tumor the size of a football. She recently underwent a 9-hour surgery to remove the mass and has a long road of recovery and treatment ahead of her.

To help Sherri communicate and keep her mind active through this process her friends created a Team Sherri Strazz Facebook page where she communicates with her friends, family, and even people she has never met who come out and support her with encouragement likes and positive thoughts. We have seen what a community of support can do for someone who is battling cancer like Sherri and we wanted to help.

When we were contacted by Team Sherri we immediately knew that this was the passion behind our cause…helping Sherri and her family in a time when they need to focus on getting her better. So her Team has created a Pirate ExtravaganzaEvent for her and BBQ To The Rescue will be there helping support her cause! We’re told that Sherri loves anything Pirate and Gasperilla is her favorite time here in Tampa Bay.

It’s Ready! The Truck Is Ready!

We are so excited that the Truck is ready! Can you believe it? It has been a few long months for all of us here at BBQ to the Rescue, but today, seeing the truck and all the hard work that has been put in to it…well let’s just say it was well worth the wait!

So tell us what you think! The graphics are flaming hot and so is our desire to get this truck out on the road in our community. We have some test runs to do before we can get started, but we feel confident that we will be ready to start serving up those in need real soon!

The truck is ready and so are we…we will keep you posted!

The Truck is Coming Together…

That’s right…the truck is coming together and we are so excited to get this show on the road. The truck is 100% finished from a construction standpoint and now it is time to get started on wrapping the truck.

As you know BBQ To The Rescue is all about helping our communities here in the Palm Harbor, Largo, and New Port Richey. We wanted a way to give back to the same communities who have supported us over the years. The BBQ To The Rescue Truck was our way of getting out into the community and supporting those very same people.

We appreciate your support and excitement as we push forward with this special project! We chatted with the ‘Follow The Truck’ team last week and we were able to sneak some pictures to share with you you all! Here is just a peak of what the graphics will look like…

We love that Sonny’s logo with the PitMasters Brand and the flames…reminds me of that smell of BBQ when you walk into one of our restaurants! YUM! And now for a few pictures of the truck!

Look at that awesome grill located in the back of the truck with the drop down sides we created for ease in serving!
